Money, Money, Money, Always Sunny

Remember the ABBA song titled "Money, Money, Money"? Well, if you do not remember this 1970s song, then the overly-hyped but rather disappointing movie "Mamma Mia" might refresh your memory. On a side note, how could they have murdered the immortal songs of ABBA? Is nothing sacred in Hollywood anymore? The actors are known for their acting skills but singing is another matter altogether! No wonder the movie has had a relatively poor performance at the box office.

But I digress. The song might have been written more than 30 years ago when disco was all the rage and rock music demigods were coming of age, but the lyrics remarkably still ring true today. Whether you admit to it or not, your mood changes according to the quantity of money you have tucked inside your money clips and your bank account.

As the ABBA song goes, you work all night, you work all day. And for what purpose? To pay the bills you have to pay! It is definitely sad thinking that your life is in danger of revolving around making the utility companies profitable, with no single penny left for you. Well at least, not for extras like a Caribbean vacation or a hot car.

So, what is the solution? You go and get yourself a wealthy man, bingo! You will have no worries about finding a job in recession. You will have fun, and not just a little! You can fulfill your dreams of shopping in Rodeo Drive without feeling like Julia Roberts' character in "Pretty Woman" encroaching on hallowed ground. You can take your Caribbean vacation and possibly extend that to a Mediterranean vacation. You can choose your own luxury car with no worries about soaring gas prices. Life IS fun for wealthy women.

This particular song can be the anthem of women who advertise their homemaking capabilities and bed-making abilities (in more ways than one) in mail-order brides' websites. After all, a dull dollar in even the cheapest money clip buys more than the shiniest peso in the most expensive genuine leather money clip, right?

No offense to women who choose this path, though. We all need the money because money can make one's life sunny. (Those ABBA dudes certainly knew their rhymes, not to mention their audience's thoughts!) And when you come from a country with little to offer by way of economic enhancement, being married to wealthy man regardless if he is old and abusive is manna from heaven itself.

Indeed, money, money and more money can make one mad for more and moody for less. And whoever said that money is just money probably never had much money and the power it can give at his disposal.
